ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Heaven?  If you died today, where would you go and when would that be and what will it be like?  Time magazine asks the following questions:  “What if Christianity is not about enduring this sinful, fallen world in search of eternal rest?  What if God brings together heaven and earth in a wholly new, wholly redeemed creation?” Or do we live in the clouds with harps?  Do we go to heaven as soon as we die?  Or do we sleep until the resurrection?  Regardless, what will we do when we get there?  Does our view of heaven affect the way we live?  Pastor Jeff will lead a weekly seminar on this topic beginning Sunday, May 6th at 9:50 am and continuing until June 3rd.  Come and check it out!

Deacon’s Flea Market

The Deacons will be having their annual Flea Market at the church on Saturday, June 9th, from 8:30 to 1:30.  If you would like to sell your own things, tables are on sale right now.  You may also donate your belongings to the church to sell, where proceeds will be used by the Deacons to help members of the church.  However, the church will not accept donations of books or clothes to sell.  Please contact the church or the Deacons for more information.

SCRIP PROGRAM: List of retailers

We have ON HAND $25 Shop N Save, Giant Eagle & Walmart, $10 Eat & Park, and Cracker Barrel. Someone asked last week if it would be better to give a donation to the church rather than use the Scrip program. This program is in ADDITION to contributions and helps the church profit by purchasing cards for the same amount you would be spending in the store. It’s a WIN-WIN all the way around! Think about that and buy some gift cards for yourself or others this week! Thank you for participating! Any questions, please contact Jane Sorchilla

INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK: NEXT VISIT:

Once a month we take dinner to St. John’s for some unfortunate families.  To help participate, please sign up at the Sound Booth to bring a dish and/or eat and fellowship with the families. If you have never helped with this wonderful mission outreach, please sign up now and you will see, you’ll love it!

PLEASANT VALLEY SHELTER:  NEXT VISIT:

CPC Riders, with the help of the Youth Group, provides dinner for the men at the Pleasant Valley Shelter on the first Sunday of every other month.  If you would like to help out, please see the sign up sheet at the Sound Booth for both providing food and helping to serve.

FOR GOD SEW LOVED II is the new name for our quilting group.  The originator of this wonderful outreach penned that name for her group and so, with her permission, we adopted the name and made us number II.  We meet every Wednesday from 9:30am until 2:00pm, so bring your lunch as we have a bible study at lunch.  There are lots of things to do whether you sew or not.  Come and be a part of this exciting mission project.

PHONE RECYCLING:  Please bring your old phones and home computer ink cartridges to church.  We send them to a company that will give us money for them.  This is a green way to get rid of them, green for the economy and green for us.  There is a box by the sound booth.

MEALS ON WHEELS:  The Meals on Wheels program in Carnegie is in dire need drivers, helpers and kitchen staff.  If you could sign up for one day a week, or every other week it would help so much. Prayerfully consider this and call Candy at 412 279-5670.

FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH: Donate non-perishable food items or cash for local persons in need. Our contributions will be given to

the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Community Food Bank serving the Carnegie Area.

THIRD SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH: Contribute to the jars in the

narthex with your pennies for the 2¢ A MEAL HUNGER PROGRAM FOR

MALAWI.
