Rev. Dr. A. René Whitaker joined Carnegie Presbyterian Church as our Interim Pastor on October 1st.
Rev. Whitaker is an ordained Presbyterian minister. She has worked with congregations in transition for 20 years.
Rev. Whitaker earned a Master of Divinity at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She was ordained here in Pittsburgh Presbytery in 1999. In 2014, she completed a Doctor of Ministry in Science and Theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Her final project is entitled, Creating Community in a Networked World.
Rev. Whitaker recently returned to the Pittsburgh area because it feels like home. When she isn’t in the pulpit, you might find her writing poetry, going for walks in different parts of town, enjoying a good meal with friends, reading a novel or savoring a hermit or two from Prantl’s Shadyside Bakery. Rev. Whitaker has just completed her third book, Entertaining Angels and is currently working on a book on Gratitude. She looks forward to meeting each one of you as we worship and work together to share the Good News with one another and the world around us.
Please feel free to drop by her office sometime during the week and say, “Hello.” Typically, she will be in the office Monday-Thursday from 10:00 – 3:00. If you would like to meet at another time, please call her at the office or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. She is also available to meet for lunch or a cold glass of iced tea if you are so inclined.
